On the 18th of May cadets from 1461 spent a hot day at Saffron Lane Stadium competing for the Wings annual Athletics competition. The day consists of both track and field events with different ages categories competing in races from 100m to 1500m and from Shot putt to High jump. With 29 squadrons in the whole competition cadets put in maximum effort to try and get the best results! Cpl Woodford said “it’s a great day and always feels like a good achievement when it’s done!’

Not only do cadets get to compete but also socialise with friends from other squadrons! With everyone cheering the competitors on in the stadium it’s a great atmosphere in the stands! As the day went by the events went from heats to finals the cadets from Wigston looked forward to finding out the results. As the final events came to a close and cadets started to change in to their Wedge wood blue uniform and an impressive final parade takes place to announce the results. Cadets of 1461 we’re very proud and happy finding out they placed 13th out of 29 in the wing, and no doubt look forward to coming back next year even stronger!
