A tremendous effort throughout 2007/2008 has seen South & East Midlands Wing rise to become the 9th best Wing in the country for Sporting achievement.

The Gillan trophy is awarded annually for the best sporting wing throughout the Corps. Points are awarded for all Corps approved sports and the wing has progressed in all competitions improving from 13th last year to 9th this year.

“Great stuff” said Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson, Officer Commanding South & East Midlands Wing, he added “it has been a fantastic effort all round to achieve a top ten result”. The Wing commander went on to congratulate Squadron Leader Carl Wilson, who held the post of Wing Sports Officer until earlier this year, and Flight Lieutenant Lynda Wapplington, the current Sports Officer for their efforts and a special thanks to all those cadets who have taken part in competitions throughout the year
