Wing Band Competition Day held at Northampton

On Sunday 20th April, South & East Midlands Wing held it’s first Wing Band Competition Day at the Headquarters of 5F (Northampton) Sqn.

Traditionally, the band competitions are held at Wing Field Day, but this year a separate day was held to enable those cadets participating to purely concentrate on the musical elements.

In all, there were six competitions that Squadrons were able to compete in and the Wing was fortunate enough to secure the services of Michael Pegram, who is the Musical Director of the RAF Halton Band, as the Judge for the competitions.

Despite the cold and wet start to the day, this didn’t dampen the cadets enthusiasm for the competitions and all participants worked hard and there were some very credible results which those involved should feel justifiably proud of.

1084 (Market Harborough) won the Full Band Competition with 5F (Northampton) Sqn coming a close second place.

The trophies and certificates for the respective competitions will be presented at the Wing Field Day on 22nd June 2008.
