Wing Media Officer – New Appointment

The Wing’s Media & Communications Officer (WMCO) has, with approval of the Commandant Air Cadets, been appointed the Deputy Editor of the RAF News Cadet Page.

After negotiations between the Commandant, Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty RAFR, and the RAF News it was agreed that the Air Cadets would have a full page in the paper, if it was self edited.

Flight Lieutenant Maggie Bell RAFVR was selected by the Head of Media at Headquarters Air Cadets to take on the role of Editor. Maggie selected Flight Lieutenant Allan Munns RAFVR, WMCO for South & East Midlands Wing, as her Deputy.

Allan has been WMCO since 2006 after a short period as deputy. During his time he has seen the Wing emerge from obscurity to significant prominence within the Corps for media output.

Since Allan introduced the Media League Tables, the competitive spirit amongst the squadrons has helped propel the wing to a position as one of the best wings in the Corps for publicity with all the squadrons in the wing striving to have the greatest output.

For the past eight years, Allan has also instructed on the Region Media Training Team as well as visiting squadrons who feel a bit of assistance is required.

Allan will continue as the WMCO and remain as the Squadron Adjutant at 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron.
