Prior to the Wing Camp at DTE Swynnerton, it was suggested by Sgt ATC Mark Bushell, a member of staff on 348 (Ilkeston) Sqn that we obtain some merchandise to sell to raise money for the Help for Heroes Charity. This was quickly agreed to, and we set our target of £480 by selling all the wrist bands, key rings and car stickers that had been obtained from the charity. This target was very soon reached as all the merchandise was sold. We also placed collecting tins at various places and very soon we realised that our target was going to be well exceeded. All the cadets contributed by organising collections from within their flghts and all the staff contributed to other collections that were organised. The money raised was finally counted on the last morning of the camp and the total raised was a staggering £1262.22! This was a absolutely outstanding effort by all the cadets and staff present. The Camp Commandant, Sqn Ldr Andy Flynn, said “I am absolutely over the moon with this magnificent total. It is beyond all expectations and every one of the staff and cadets who attended the camp should be proud of what they have achieved. It is rare that I am lost for words, but I was on this occasion when i realised just how much money had been collected. Well done to everyone!”
