Article posted: Nov 01, 2008 by Flt Lt Waplington

Sunday 28th September saw the Wing enter teams into the Region Girls Hockey, Junior Boys Football, and Rugby 7’s Competition held at RAFC Cranwell.

Cadets came from across the Wing to take part in the Competition and certainly didn’t let themselves, their Squadrons or the Wing down.

The Rugby Team was at a slight disadvantage due to the number of players. But went out to prove they were a force to be reckoned with. Throughout the 1st game one of the team was injured, however they managed to work through the pain and carried on playing.
Despite further injuries the team fought on till the end and on the day were awarded 3rd place in the Competition.

However due to another team being disqualified the results were changed and the Wing managed to gain 2nd place overall and the team will be presented with their Silver medals at a suitable time.

The Football Team was an excellent turn-out and the team played with all the heart and enthusiasm that could be expected of them.

The team only lost one game throughout the Competition, and managed to walk away with the 2nd position on the day and the lads were awarded with their medals by Wing Cdr Dickinson – Officer Commanding South & East Midlands Wing.
