South & East Midlands Wing were beaten into second place at the Inter Wing Swimming Competition held at RAF Cranwell, beaten by arch rivals, Trent Wing, a reversal of last year’s result.

Drawn in adjacent lanes in the pool, the swimmers from the two wings battled head to head throughout the competition and although South & East Midlands Wing cadets tried their hardest, they could not overcome the strength of Trent’s team.

“Every member of the team put in maximum effort today and I am proud of team spirit and determination”, said Wing Sports Officer, Flight Lieutenant Lynda Waplington “_this year Trent had the stronger team but our cadets pushed them every inch of the way_” continued Lynda, “ _we will be out for revenge next year_”

Officer Commanding the Wing, Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson, told the Team, “you have put in a tremendous effort and I am sure that the rest of the Wing are as proud of you all as I am, I thank you all for what you have done”

Cadets who won their races will now go on to represent Central and East Region in the Inter Region Championships.
